Unser jüngstes RüRo-Projekt kommt nach Deutschland und wir freuen uns darauf, dass IHR dabei seid!

Eine Kollaboration von 28 ghanaischen und englischen Musikern, die 2017 ihren Anfang in unserer Partnergemeinde Kalba nahm und deren Album wir 2018 crowdfundeten.
Seitdem haben wir beim englischen Label Wah Wah 45s das Album veröffentlicht, zahlreiche Festivals in England gespielt und sind regelmäßig im Radio, z.B. bei BBC Radio 6 Music zu hören.

ISAAC BIRITURO & THE RAIL ABANDON

The Rail Abandon is the musical (dis)guise of Sonny Johns, Grammy, MOBO and Mercury nominated producer, engineer, musician. Grounded in the 1960s folk revival of John Martyn, Nick Drake and Fairport Convention, The Rail Abandon’s “Afrolktronica” incorporates influences of electronic music as well as the sound of West Africa – inspired by the musicians Sonny has worked with, including Ali Farke Toure, Fatoumata Diawara, Orchestra Baobab and Tony Allen.

In 2016 Sonny went to Ghana and met master xylophone player Isaac Birituro. After an instant music connection, they spent 3 days in a church making the basis of the album Kalba. Sonny then called upon musician friends, such as Polar Bear’s Seb Rochford, Leafcutter John and Mark Lockheart as well as Laura Jurd, Elliot Galvin and Samantha Whates, to produce “one of the most exciting things I've worked on in the 20 years of the label,” – Dom Servini, Wah Wah 45s.

The album is a collaboration between Ghanaian and UK songwriters, recorded by 28 musicians from around the world, a mixture of traditional Ghanaian xylophone music, British folk, Afrobeat, Highlife, electronica and a whole load more. Incorporating new members, Trombone/synth Raph Clarkson, drums Yuval Wetzler, vocalist Yolanda Eyama and master balaphone player Moussa Dembele, The Rail Abandon will be touring the music from Kalba as a five-piece recreating the sound of 28 musicians on the album.

WILDERLIFE

Die flachen Weiten der norddeutschen Tiefebene, Schietwetter, ein umgebauter Stall als Proberaum und ein Quartett junger Männer, dass für etwas mehr Ausgelassenheit im Alltag kämpft. Das ist genau die richtige Gemengelage für eine frische Brise Gitarrenmusik, die nach Freiheit und mehr Lust aufs Leben schreit! Das ist Wilderlife.

Unverkennbarer Mittelpunkt der Truppe ist dabei die tiefe, warm-kratzige Stimme des Sängers Tim, welche ab der ersten Sekunde ein unverkennbares Merkmal in den Ring wirft. Wie nennt man den Stil? Einfach frisch, hoffnungsvoll, leicht euphorisch? Pop oder Rock? Alles ist mit dabei, genau wie eine ordentliche Prise Rock’n’Roll und ein Tick Südstaaten- Landjugend-Attitüde. Straighte Beats, drückende Saitenakkorde und eine guter Vortrieb machen das Ganze wilder, aufregender, aber nie over the top.

Man merkt den Songs, genau wie den Typen förmlich an, dass sie viel vorhaben: tanzen, feiern, Bier trinken ab mittags - aber eines eben nicht: irgendwann erwachsen werden!

So viel unbändige Lebenslust und Energie darf der Welt nicht weiter vorenthalten werden, deshalb erscheint jetzt Wilderlife’s erste Single „Back Again“, um den Menschen wenigstens für einen Augenblick die trüben Gedanken wegzublasen!
